Finally! Someone got it right

I am using an iPhone 6S with a 2015 Macbook pro and its working as it should. Other apps could not get it right but these folks managed to get it working as best as the tech will allow. Please understand that bluetooth 4.0 isnt perfect so exact distance of lock/unlock can vary based off of environmental conditons like having a phone in your pocket under a desk when seated.
